This isn’t your grandma’s side dish.
Their cranberry sauce is infused with $4,400-a-bottle Taylor Fladgate Scion Vintage Port, mixed with $1,500-per-pound white truffles, and topped with 24K edible gold flakes. Oh, and don’t forget the imported Manuka honey from New Zealand. Fancy.
For one day only—Thanksgiving—you can fork over $195 for a single spoonful of this glammed-up cranberry dream. It’s part of Old Homestead’s quest to outdo itself every year. “People want extraordinary, and we deliver,” said co-owner Greg Sherry, who runs the 150-year-old steakhouse with his brother Marc.
This isn’t their first trip down luxury lane. In past years, they’ve offered $180,000 Thanksgiving feasts and $4,900 Super Bowl chicken wings coated in foie gras and caviar. But this year, the spotlight is on cranberries.
The inspiration? A recipe from Sherry’s late grandmother. “It was her special holiday sauce,” Sherry said. “We decided to take it out of the box and elevate it.” Grandma’s recipe now sits in rarified air, far from its humble beginnings.
If $195 cranberries sound a bit much, don’t worry—the rest of the menu is more grounded. A roasted turkey dinner with all the trimmings runs $85, or $105 if you want to add filet mignon. But the ultra-luxe sauce? By request only.
Sherry admits he’s not expecting a stampede. “This is for the gourmet crowd who wants something over the top,” he said. “It’s not about how many we sell. It’s about creating something memorable.”
