A dedicated daughter avenged her dad’s death in Brazil! This was a long time in the making but it’s been done!

This is something you’d see in a movie. It’s definitely the plot of a movie somewhere already and if not they will definitely be bringing this story to the big screen soon. It all started with a man in Brazil who was shot dead at a bar over a $30 debt in 1999. Now, his killer is finally behind bars and it’s all thanks to the victim’s dedicated daughter who avenged her dad’s death.

I guess hard work really does pay off! It goes to show not to ever give up on your goals even if it takes you 30 years. She has to be feeling really accomplished now that she’s accomplished her mission.

According to Metro, Gislayne Silva de Deus, of Boa Vista in Northern Brazil, was only 9-years-old when her dad Givaldo was shot in a bar over a $30 debt in 1999. His killer, Raimundo Alves Gomes, reportedly brought him to the hospital afterwards but then disappeared. In 2013, he was put on trial and senetenced to 12 years but was allowed to stay out of prison while fighting a series of appeals against the verdict, per Metro. Those appeals were denied but he disappeared again in 2016 which as you can imagine was devastating for Gislayne who at that point was in her 20s working as a lawyer. Metro reports she said, “WE got used to living with uncertainty, always wondering if we would ever be able to locate him.” In 2022, she became a prison officer always imagining Gomes showing up to serve his sentence. There were even times he was spotted in town but was able to get away and remain uncaptured. Recently, she joined her state’s Civil Police and applied to join the murder unit. She immediately got to work trying to locate Gomes.

Finally, after many years she was able to confront her father’s killer at the police station and explained to him why he had been caught. Metro reports that she told him, “It’s because of me that you are here. You are now going to pay.” All her work finally paid off and he was brought to justice! It wouldn’t have happened without all of her efforts it sounds like. You can see a picture of Gomes below.
