Oklahoma Man Steals Vehicle To Get To Court For Stealing A Vehicle
An Oklahoma man stole a vehicle to get to court for stealing a vehicle. Well, you have to make it to court, I suppose.
They say lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, but it seems to have here. You’d think he’d know not to steal a vehicle after previously getting in trouble for stealing a vehicle but here we are. I guess he thought not showing up to court would be even worse. The incident happened in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Did An Oklahoma Man Steal A Vehicle To Get To Court For Stealing A Vehicle?
It seems like he just didn’t learn his lesson the first time around. However, it would be an interesting situation to find yourself in. Either way you’re going to get in trouble. If you don’t show up to court that’s going to be more trouble for you. If you show up with a stolen car that’s going to be trouble. But what if they don’t catch you with the stolen car? That might be your only shot! That might be what this guy in Oklahoma was thinking.
According to KOCO, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Kody Adams stole a pickup truck and drove himself to Pawnee for his case regarding unauthorized use of a vehicle. Reports say he was at a Stillwater gas station asking people for a ride to his court date in Pawnee and when he couldn’t find a ride he made the decision to get in an unoccupied LifeNet Emergency Services pickup and take himself to court–since nobody else would.
It’s a 30 minute drive from Stillwater to Pawnee! That’s a long way to go in a stolen vehicle. Those first responders were likely incredibly confused as well. A trooper reportedly caught up to him just as he was walking into the courthouse where he claimed he was just borrowing the truck, per KOCO. He was then allowed to go to his case before being transported back to Payne County to be booked on new charges. That would be a difficult situation to find yourself in but you can’t commit crimes to get there! Call someone! A friend or family member should have been available.
