Detroit Driver Rear-Ends Cop Car While Eating Chicken Wings
A driver in Detroit, Michigan rear-ended a cop car while eating chicken wings. Even though they’re delicious, it’s still distracted driving.
It’s a bit of Chuck Luck that the car he hit happened to be a police patrol car but it’s a valuable lesson not to eat behind the wheel! Thankfully, nobody was injured during the accident.
Detroit Driver Read-Ends Cop Car While Eating Chicken Wings
We cannot advise eating chicken wings behind the wheel. Sure, they might be hot and ready for you to consumer in the car, but it’s best to just wait and eat them at home. That way you can eat them as sloppy as you choose and even get your preferred dipping sauce out to maximize your enjoyment. Plus, if you wait and eat them at home you’re less likely to rear-end a cop car. Can’t say it won’t happen if you’re eating chicken wings at home, but certainly less likely.
According to The Detroit Free Press, the 73-year-old man was eating chicken wings while driving around 3:15pm on the John C. Lodge Freeway Service Drive at West Grand Boulevard. It sounds like the trooper was stopped in the left center lane during a red light when the man struck him from behind in his vehicle. It was then confirmed by police that he was, indeed, eating chicken wings at the time of the accident.
The Freep reports that nobody was injured during the accident and there was minor vehicle damage. The man was cited for the incident. There’s no word on where the wings are from but I imagine they’re all trying to find out because it could be used in a future advertisement, or something. “So good you’ll crash into a cop car.” Who knows? I’ve seen stranger advertisements, that’s for sure.
Wings are one of the foods that seem like they’d be tough to eat while driving. Picking at some fast-food fries or eating a burger is much easier, not that you should! It’s still distracted driving. However, some foods are easier to eat on the road than others. Personally, I never get Taco Bell if I’m going on a road trip or know I’ll be eating on-the-go. It’s too difficult! I have to apply the sauce and then toppings leak out of the opposite side I’m eating from. It’s a mess and it’s never worth it. I love Taco Bell, but not while on the road.
I feel like chicken wings can be tough to eat too. You have to navigate a bone, find the dipping sauce, it requires a bit more effort on the driver’s part than simply eating a burger. Don’t drive distracted. It can be incredibly dangerous. Just wait until you get home to eat.
