The Bush Is Back: Celebrities Bringing Back Pubic Hair
Are celebrities bringing back pubic hair? It’s starting to seem like it, now it’s just a question of will the people follow suit?
Celebrities are often responsible for starting trends in pop culture. It could be the shoes we wear, the brands, or how we wear certain articles of clothing. Celebrities have a big impact on what we do. Now, it appears many celebrities are going retro and growing out their pubes. Is it going to take off or is it just a couple of celebrities trying something out?
Are Celebrities Bringing Back Pubic Hair?
Hopefully, this is one of those alleged fads that fails to launch. I don’t know if we’re ready for this as a society. According to The New York Post, A-Listers like Doja Cat and Julia Fox (okay, not an A-Lister but you get it) have embraced the fad.
On the Red Carpet at the 2024 Grammys, Doja Cat arrived in a dress that left little to the imagination and showed off her bush visible through the gauzy fabric. Not long after, Julia Fox was spotted during New York Fashion Week in graphic bikini bottoms with pubic hair printed on the garment. It’s a very interesting look! Of course, with her, that’s all you seem to get.
Now, people are thinking the trend is going to take off and the bush is going to make a comeback. According to The New York Post, luxury fashion house Maison Margiela made a case for the bush during the spring/summer 2024 runway as they presented a collection of airy, transparent fabrics that displayed a wooly Merkin on models’.
Rachael Gibson, known as The Hair Historian, says, “Historically, when more of the body is on display, there’s more of a feeling that any visible hair should be removed. So at the start of the 20th century, when hemlines rose and sleeveless garments became more popular, we see women’s razors being advertised in magazines and features warning women of how unsightly body hair is,” via The New York Post.
From pubic hair to armpit hair it seems like it’s being shown more often and is becoming more accepted in society and pop culture. People are even getting less full body waxes in favor of bikini waxes or something that will leave some hair behind and not fully remove it all. Would you be down with this trending fad? People are starting to do it and if you don’t you might end up getting left behind!
