Former NFL Star Terrell Davis Claims He Was Arrested Over An In-Flight Ice Cup
Former NFL star and 2x Super Bowl Champion Terrell Davis claims he was arrested over an in-flight ice cup. Is there more to the story?
Terrell Davis was a big part of the Denver Broncos winning back-to-back Super Bowls in 1997 and 1998. He remains the Broncos all-time leading rusher and holds the record for the most postseason touchdowns in a single season (8). However, the Hall Of Famer is now in trouble over requesting a cup of ice on a United Airlines flight? Let’s dive in.
Terrell Davis Claims He Was Arrested Over An In-Flight Ice Cup
It’s the latest story from the not-so-friendly skies. We’ve talked about naked passengers, missing parts on a plane, and now it’s another story of poor treatment from staff on a plane. That’s the thing with these in-flight problems. Most of the time, it’s unruly passengers and the passenger is clearly in the wrong. However, that might not be the case here. Terrell is maintaining his innocence through it all and is sharing his story on social media.
Terrell Davis was famous for his salute after scoring touchdowns. I remember doing that too after scoring in some backyard football games. However, he doesn’t seem to be giving this United Airlines crew a salute. According to QZ.com, Davis said that asking for a cup of ice for his son, he tapped the flight attendant on the arm to get his attention after thinking he might not have been heard. However, QZ.com reports the flight attendant then told Davis, “don’t hit me” before going to the back of the plane. Upon landing, FBI and local police arrested, handcuffed, and led Davis off the plane (all in front of his family), per QZ.com.
On Instagram, Davis said, “I refuse to stand by without speaking out on this disgusting display of injustice and deplorable treatment by United Airlines.” Davis isn’t explicitly saying that he believes this happened because of his race, but he did mention that he had to have “hard conversations” with his family about what went down, per QZ.com. There was another story trending recently where a group of passengers claimed they were falsely accused of “offensive body odor” on a flight and sued American Airlines for racial discrimination over it.
According to QZ.com, the flight attendant has been removed from duty while United Airlines investigates the incident. See more about this incident in a video report from ABC News on YouTube below.
