American Airlines Flight Narrowly Avoids Disaster In Tampa After Tire Explodes

An American Airlines flight out of Tampa narrowly avoids disaster after a tire exploded! It happened just before takeoff and the plane didn’t take flight.

It was an incredibly close call! Had they taken off and left the ground there could have been a great risk to their safety when they tried to land or if it had gone unnoticed. It’s the latest example of something going wrong with a plane! Read more and see video below.

American Airlines Flight Narrowly Avoids Disaster

Recently, we’ve talked about planes missing parts, strange passengers, and more issues involving planes. Now, we have to add another to the list. This video is going viral online and it shows what a close call it was!

According to WFLA, a wheel of an American Airlines flight out of Tampa, Florida burst into flames just before takeoff, forcing the plane to abort taking off. Sheri Blankenship was a passenger on the flight heading to Phoenix, Arizona along with her granddaughter and tells WFLA, “Today was unbelievable. We get to the airport. Everything was fine. We loaded good, got ready to taxi the runway, started down the runway full force. All of the sudden, it felt like we were on a gravel road.”

That had to have been a scary moment for all on board! You don’t want to feel or notice an issue right as the plane is taking off. It seems like it scared Blankenship, too. She told WFLA, “I didn’t want to get on another plane. I wanted the credit, and go to Enterprise. I wanted to drive to Phoenix.” That would have been a very long drive, but at that time you can’t blame her for viewing it as a preferred option compared to getting back on a plane. That would probably be it for me!

WFLA shared a statement from American Airlines saying, “American Airlines flight 590 with service from Tampa (TPA) to Phoenix (PHX) experienced a mechanical issue on the runway prior to taking off. Customers safely deplaned and were bussed to the terminal. We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Thankfully, it sounds like everybody was okay and nobody was injured during the scary incident. Watch video from the scene below.
