San Diego Sea Lion Charges At People On The Beach
San Diego, California is one of the most beautiful cities on earth. You get pristine beaches, cute surf towns, and the perfect weather. It’s always warm but rarely gets too hot. However, it’s not always a paradise. Especially when animals get fed up and decide to charge at people on the beach! That’s what one San Diego Sea Lion decided to do at the popular La Jolla Cove Beach.
Now, the city of San Diego is calling on beachgoers to keep a safe distance from the Sea Lions in their natural habitat. We talk about stories like this all the time on Dave & Chuck The Freak. Remember the people who got a little too close to a Moose? Bad things can happen! Sometimes, it’s best to just enjoy nature from a far. Getting too close to wild animals can lead to problems, like these people learned.
City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Chief Park Ranger Michael Ruiz tells KPBS, “We haven’t had incidents of sea lion harming any visitors. When a male is charging like that, that’s what they do. They’re just reminding you to stay away. What’s more likely is a visitor is going o slip on a rock and hurt themselves trying to get away. That’s why it’s so important to stay a safe distance from the very beginning.”
