So, which team do you want to win the next Boston championship? That's the question for this week's 12-Inch Poll.
The question comes as the Boston Bruins, now holders of the greatest-ever regular season in the salary cap-era of the National Hockey League, look to bring home the Stanley Cup. And they'll be sharing Garden time this spring with the Boston Celtics, whose 2022-2023 postseason campaign is underway after coming up two games short of the NBA Championship last season.
Then there are your Boston Red Sox, who are off to a rocky start. Their muddy Marathon Monday mess-up against Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angles Angels of Anaheim is a fitting analogy for their season so far. And your New England Patriots are in the middle of an offseason where the lead story isn't who the team plans to draft but how the Head Coach and QB can't get along.
Which Team Do You Want to Win the Next Boston Championship?
I share all of that (and post the headline again in big letters) to remind you: the question isn't who do you THINK will win the next Boston championship. It's who do you WANT to win the next Boston championship. Maybe you're a big B's or C's fan and you're pulling for the local frontrunners. Or maybe you're a Pats or Sox honk and you want to see your team buck the odds and turn it around.
Of course, there are other local teams besides the Big Four, so I've added them to the Poll, too. Take a scroll and cast your vote. Oh, and for once I'll actually tell you who I'm voting for: the Boston Bruins. I'd like to see Patrice Bergeron cap off his Hall of Fame career with one more Stanley Cup on his resume.
