October 12, 1981: U2 releases their second studio album, October. Kinda cool that they dropped October in October. And anytime we're talking U2, it's a good time to revisit their 50 Best Songs (according to us).

October 12, 1999: 311 releases Soundsystem. Fun fact: the band commenced recording sessions for their fifth album on, you guessed it, 3/11/99. See where it lands in their full catalog.

October 12, 2004: The Boston Red Sox were in the Bronx for Game 1 of the 2004 ALCS. And the Beastie Boys were in Worcester for a show at the Centrum. I wrote about both here. The setlist was pretty killer.

October 13, 1947: Samuel Roy "Sammy" Hagar is born in Salinas, CA. Some Van Halen fans are for Dave, some are for Sammy. I'm a Red Rocker guy through and through. So I'll be throwing back a shot of Cabo Wabo tequila in his honor of his birthday...tomorrow. In the meantime, take a gander of how many of his songs made our list of 30 Best Van Halen songs.
