Welcome to another edition of Today in Boston ROCK, where I, Adam 12, spotlight Very Important Days In Rock History. January 6th is one.

  • 1946

January 6, 1946: Roger Keith Barrett is born in Cambridge. No, not the Cambridge with Harvard Square and The Sinclair. The Cambridge over in England. You know him better as Syd Barrett, co-founder of Pink Floyd. Given his short run in the band, any sort of live footage is hard to come by online. I was able to find this, though. Trippy.

  • 1953

January 6, 1953: Malcolm Young, AC/DC rhythm guitarist is born. Here are 25 (in our opinion) of his best pieces of work during the Brian Johnson years. And here’s Malcolm with Bon Scott and the rest of the gang from the Paradise in ’78. Shouts to my buddy Shred from BCN for the intro!

  • 1964

January 6, 1964: Muzz Skllings is born in Queens, NYC. He was the original bass player of Living Colour, departing the band on good terms in 1992. That means he’s responsible for the low end on their groundbreaking debut album, Vivid.
