An apartment search site called RentHop released a list of the most expensive ZIP codes in the United States. The MOST expensive ZIP is 33109, which is Fisher Island in Florida. Get this. The average price there for a 2 bedroom luxury apartment was a whopping $22,000 last year, according to the report. It’ll make Boston seem like a bargain. I just wanted to ease the blow.

Now on to Massachusetts. The experts say metro Boston is one of the most expensive apartment markets in the country. If you remember, Boston recently surpassed San Francisco to claim the 2nd highest rent in the country. 

RentHop researched it’s national database to come up with the findings in this list of the most expensive ZIP codes. It drew from more than 1.8 million active residential rental listings from January 1 of 2022 to December 31 of 2022. They calculated the median rent price for a 2 bedroom unit.

Alright let’s dig into the numbers, from ZIPs to monthly rental prices. 5 of the most expensive zip codes to rent in the USA are in Massachusetts. And here they are:

    The Boston Waterfront and downtown area clocks in with the highest rent at $5,750 median price for a 2 bedroom

    Boston’s Seaport District is buzzing with food, entertainment and high priced rentals. The average 2 bedroom goes for $5,450

    Boston.gov describes this area: “Located along the southern edge of Downtown, Boston’s Chinatown is a commercial and cultural hub for the City’s Chinese community. The Leather District is a small neighborhood just east of Chinatown, nestled between Dewey Square and Kneeland Street. The nine distinct blocks are noted for their 19th century brick warehouse structures.
