You could pull together a bunch of holiday songs recorded solely by Boston artists and end up with a pretty solid playlist. I did, and it is.

From rock to alt to punk to rap, here’s a handful of my festive Boston faves. Keep it handy during the season, and share it with a friend. It’s my gift to you, especially the Morphine song, as just last night beloved Boston drummer and Morphine's beatkeeper Billy Conway passed away.

And on the subject of Boston artists, Brian Charles--Boston music producer and member of The Sheila Divine--lost his Zippah Studios to an 8-alarm fire earlier this month. If you're feeling generous and have a little extra to give this holiday season, you can donate to the fundraiser here.

Dropkick Murphys “The Season’s Upon Us”

The J. Geils Band

Los Wonder Twins Del Rap “The Feast Of Steven”

Aimee Mann

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Morphine

Robby Roadsteamer “X-mas In Allston”

Sandman & West “Xmas in Kenmore Square”

The Sheila Divine “O Holy Night”

The Showcase Showdown “Ho Ho Ho Chi Minh!”

SSD “Jolly Old St. Nicholas”

Throwing Muses “Santa Claus”
