The holiday weekend featured Dropkick Murphys at MGM Music Hall at Fenway on St. Patrick’s Day, and we have the pictures to prove it.

The photos come courtesy of local photographer Greg Caparell, who was on hand for the Friday night Dropkicks show. Greg does incredible work–he shot Rammstein at Gillette last summer and caught the German powerhouse in all their pyrotechnic glory. You can check out those photos here, and you should. I’m still red-assed mad that I wasn’t able to make it to that one. Rammstein are the greatest live rock band I’ve ever seen, and they don’t make it to the United States very often.

Dropkick Murphys, on the other hand, make it back to Boston each and every St. Patrick’s Day. Their annual slate of shows changes slightly from year to year–different dates, different venues. But this year was magical. With St. Patrick’s Day proper falling on a Friday, it gave the band the chance to play all four shows spread out over St. Patrick’s Day weekend. They kicked off a three-night stand at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway on Thursday night, then moved the operation across the street to the House of Blues to close out the weekend on Sunday.

The Murphys are coming off the 2022 release of This Machine Still Kills Fascists, an all-acoustic effort created out of unused Woodie Guthrie lyrics. They recorded so much during those sessions that they have a second album ready to go. Okemah Rising releases on May 12, 2023. You can get all the details on the new album here, then head over here to preorder it. Now, enjoy Greg’s pics of Dropkicks live on Lansdowne St. on St. Patrick’s Day. What a night, what a show.
