Netflix Hot Dog Eating Competition Coming With Joey Chestnut And Takeru Kobayashi
There’s a major Netflix hot dog eating competition coming, and you won’t want to miss it. After if was announced that hot dog champ Joey Chestnut wouldn’t be competing in this year’s Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July hot dog-eating competition, I’m sure Netflix said, “hold my beer,” and found a way to bring a new competition to life.
There seems to be a little controversy around him not competing as Chestnut said on Twitter/X, “I was gutted to learn from the media that after 19 years Im banned from the Nathan’s July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest. I love competing in that event, I love celebrating America with my fans all over this great country on the 4th and I have been training to defend my title.”
He went on to say, “To set the record straight, I do not have a contract with MLE or Nathans and they are looking to change the rules from past years as it relates to other partners I can work with. This is apparently the basis on which I’m being banned, and it doesn’t impact the July 4th event.”
And finally,
Sadly, this is the decision Nathan’s and Major League Eating are making, and it will deprive the great fans of the holiday’s usual joy and entertainment. To my fans, I love you and appreciate you. Rest assured that you’ll see me eat again soon!! STAY HUNGRY!”
Why A Netflix Hot Dog Eating Competition?
So yes, Joey Chestnut is out at this year’s Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July hot dog-eating contest. This came about because of a deal that he made with rival brand Impossible Foods, which makes plant-based food.
Chestnut is a 16-time hot dog-eating champ and for the Netflix special, he will face off with his “fiercest competitor” Takeru Kobayashi.
When Can I see The Netflix Hot Dog Eating Competition?
The Netflix special is called “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef,” and will feature the two competing to down the most all-beef hot dogs. Interesting since Chestnut’s deal is with a plant-based food company. I guess you go where the money goes right?
Don’t miss the Netflix Hot Dog Eating Competition! “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef,” will be a live streamed event on Netflix that will take place on September 2nd.
