Two seemingly drunk men in Australia have been charged with trespassing after an 8-hour stand-off with police. According to 9 News, the pair climbed on top of a construction site roof in the city of Perth.

Reports say the men, both in their 20s, allegedly climbed up scaffolding to get onto the roof around 1:15 in the morning. They then refused to come down and eventually fell asleep up there.

Drunk Australians Cause 8 Hour Police Stand-Off

Video appears to show one of the guys throwing bags of concrete on the road and drinking what looks like a bottle of vodka. The two of them were spotted messing with the scaffolding and shaking it, according to 9 News.

A police negotiator was brought in at one point, and the two men had a little fun with them, per 9 News. One of them reportedly said, "We're ready to make a deal. We want a four pack of cruisers." It looks like cruisers might be some sort of Australian alcohol, like a spritz of some sort. 9 News says the other man added a request for a vape.

Their actions at the site temporarily prevented workers from being able to perform their jobs. One of those workers told 9 News, "When I rocked up I saw 'em - they had him a bottle of vodka with 'em. So, I was just like, 'looks like they're having a good time.' But, obviously it's not safe for them to be up there."

However, 9 News reports that Police Minister Paul Papalia was less cool about it. 9 News reports he said, "What a waste of time and actually potentially putting other people in, at harm, in an effort to effectively rescue them." He went on to refer to it as "stupidity," per 9 News.

9 News reports the men finally came down around 10am and tried to run away before surrendering to the police. The two men were charged with trespass, stealing, and behaving in a disorderly manner, according to 9 News. Don't get in a drunk police stand-off.

Caution! 5 Things You Should Never Do Drunk

At the time, it may sound like a fun idea. You might even be able to talk yourself into believing it will be a good time and positive things will come out of it. However, I must proceed to warn you to act with caution. These are 5 things you should never do drunk. If you do, you're very likely going to regret it.

You may have heard of liquid courage. It's the term we've given to that phenomena where you have feelings of self-confidence and self-assuredness after consuming alcohol. For example, when you're at the bar and you've had a couple of drinks and you aren't scared to talk to that girl you've never met who's sitting next to you. Usually, you wouldn't speak to her. You'd be too shy or feel awkward. However, with liquid courage, you're ready to approach.

Understanding Liquid Courage

In reality, the alcohol didn't actually make you brave. In fact, alcohol causes our brain to release the chemical dopamine, which is a hormone that deals with motivation and rewards. According to The Guest House, the confidence isn't real, the alcohol has changed our perception. That feeling of confidence and re-assuredness is actually a false sense of those things. That's where alcohol and its dependency can become a real problem for people. We believe that confidence is real and begin to depend on alcohol to help us in those situations, creating what could be a very slippery slope.

Unfortunately, that false sense of confidence isn't the only problem with alcohol. Truth is, people do some dumb things when they're drinking. Sure, there are fun things, as well. However, that's not what we're talking about right now. To avoid creating any problems or drama, these are five things you should never do drunk.

Some things on the list are obvious, but still need to be pointed out. Others, you might need a reminder for. Hopefully, you aren't doing any of these five things that you should never do drunk. You could get arrested, in trouble, dumped, or worse. Stick to having fun and enjoying yourself when you choose to have some drinks. In order to do that, you're going to want to avoid making these mistakes!

5 Things You Should Never Do Drunk

Drive

First and foremost, this needs to be said. Don't drink and drive. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. There's nothing cool about it. Call a Ride Share or find a Designated Driver. Always try to plan ahead and know drinking and driving is not worth it.

Text Your Ex

They don't call it "liquid courage" for nothing. Don't reach out to your ex after (or while) you've been drinking. Don't text. Don't call. Don't DM. Leave it be. You'll definitely regret it in the morning. A drunk text at 2am on a Wednesday isn't going to help you win her back, I promise. It'll likely end up doing more harm than good.

Athletic Activities

It may sound fun in your mind, but your body isn't ready for it. One wrong movement and there goes your ankle. Save the heroics for when you're sober.

Make An Impulsive Purchase

Keep off the internet when you've been drinking. Otherwise, a couple days later you'll receive a package of $100 worth of hot sauce from Amazon. Trust me, I've been there. You don't have room to store all these random bottles of hot sauce. Put it in your cart, sure. However, don't buy it. Sleep on it.

Make Plans

Don't make plans when you're drunk. Sober You likely won't appreciate the plans Drunk You made the night before. You don't even like horses, why would you agree to go clean up a stable??

Cheers

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
