DAM BeasleyWhen you think about driving in Boston, you probably cringe and think there are a million things you'd rather do than drive in Boston. The roads here are awful, loaded with potholes and construction. Not to mention there really is no rush hour here. Traffic is heavy on just about every road at any given time of day. And when it comes to aggressive drivers, we are loaded with them. Although, you almost have to be aggressive driving in Boston otherwise you won't get anywhere. So the fact that Boston is anywhere near the top 10 of the list of safest drivers is a little questionable. So let's dive in and see how this list was determined.
The car sales company SellMax looked at data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over four years and found New York City is the safest city to drive in in America. Okay, that right there already sounds sketchy. The fact that Boston came in at #2 and then Jersey #3 means that something must be wrong with this list. But how is it determined? According to Sellmax co-founder Sean Pour, "We based that ranking based on total fatalities, DUI fatalities, and speeding fatalities." In regards to drunk driving deaths, Boston ranks #2 and it also ranks fifth for speeding fatalities.
When it comes to most dangerous cities to drive in, that title goes to Detroit then Dallas and then Tucson. One of the main factors that contributes to safer driving is more public transportation. Either way, all of us that live in and around Boston may have a lot to say about this list as being safe is one thing, convenience is another and it is NOT convenient to drive anywhere around Boston. Case and point, there are many deadly roads to drive in and around Boston. These are the deadliest:
The 10 Deadliest Roads in Massachusetts Are All Within 50 Miles of Boston
What the most deadliest roads in Massachusetts? Well now we know, thanks to Moneygeek.com. But before we run them down, let's take a look at exactly how bad the traffic is in Boston.
Anyone who's ever driven in Boston has had to endure what seems like some of the worst traffic in the world. Now, we know that feeling is real. According to some new analysis from Inrix.com, Boston traffic is not only the second worst in the country, but it's the FOURTH worst in the ENTIRE WORLD! "Only drivers in London (156 hours), Chicago (155) and Paris (138) lost more hours in traffic in 2022" according to this study.
But some say traffic is a good thing? Why? According to transportation analyst Bob Pishue, “Congestion shows that the economy is moving. Traffic is a problem, but it’s reflective of people going to the office, running errands, shopping, visiting relatives, which are all good things.” Yeah, but try telling that to the hundreds of thousands of people who sit in traffic on the Expressway every week.
