Boston music scene icon and North Shore scion Robby Roadsteamer is appearing at the Golden Banana. You can't make this sh*t up.
If you’re you’re not familiar with this Robby Roadsteamer character, here’s a brief lesson. Created by Peabody native Rob Potylo, Robby broke in as the lead singer of the Boston band The Sweatpant Boners in 2001. In 2004, Robby Roadsteamer the band debuted, appearing in the 2005 WBCN Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble. You can get the rest of Robby's sordid history here.
After a long stint on the left coast, Robby returned to Boston earlier this year. He's on a crusade to "Make Boston Sh*itty Again," and has taken to social media with a variety of co-conspirators, like Boston punk legend Dave Tree. Roadsteamer has been popping up at Boston-area landmarks like Harvard Square and the Kowloon. Now, he's taking his show to another famous North Shore spot.

The Golden Banana bills itself as "The Boston North Shore Area's Premiere Adult Entertainment Mega Club." And part of that adult entertainment is their upcoming Golden Banana Comedy Special. On Monday, September 18th, Robby will take the stage with Lenny Clarke, the Queen of Boston Comedy Christine Hurley, Dave Russo, and Demetrius “Big D” Hullum.
If you've been following Robby on Instagram, you can get an idea of what to expect at the show. He'll bring comedy, music, and a ton of North Shore references to the stage. So I'm hoping plugging his upcoming show will get him off my back for awhile.
