A new bill in Massachusetts is attempting to make it illegal to attach guns to robots in the Commonwealth. As more and more people fear robots and A.I., with some reports suggesting that they could lead to the end of our civilization, how is this not a no-brainer?
The bill, filed this week by state Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa and state Sen. Michael Moore, would prohibit “the manufacture, sale, and operation of robotic devices or drones that are mounted with a weapon.” It's the first bill of it's kind in the country.
Boston Dynamics is among the many supporters of the bill which would ban the weaponization of robots except by the military and police. This keeps Robocop as a future possibility.
Per the bill, people who violate the laws would face fines ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.
Massachusetts having the first law of the such since A) Massachusetts is the drone capital of the East coast and B) we also use AI more than almost any other state in the country? Yup, it's true.
A new report by GoTo reveals the states most curious about AI adoption by analyzing Google search data for terms related to chatbots such as ChatGPT and Google Bard2. This analysis found the US states that have the highest interest in artificial intelligence.
According to GoTo’s report, 33% of Americans “entirely trust” the information that AIs provide them with. On the opposite side of the spectrum, only 10% of people don’t trust its reliability at all. 56% of those who responded said that they do trust the information AI can offer them, but they still double-check it manually afterwards.
So what states are using A.I. the most right now? And how much are our New England neighbors using A.I. compared to here in Massachusetts? That info is coming… NOW:
When it comes to AI, we're pretty on edge. I just saw that video game companies are so scared of A.I. they’re forcing managers to study machine learning and offering employees $7,000 bounties for A.I. ideas. According to a new study released by the Pew Research Center 32% of Americans believe that over the next 20 years, AI will do more damage than good to workers. But while A.I. has many nervous about the future, Massachusetts residents are adapting faster than most of the country to using A.I. to help make things easier.
