Yeah It’s Hot, But It Was Way Hotter 142 Years Ago in Boston!
We’re in a pretty toasty period in New England currently. With schools canceling due to unseasonable temperatures in the 90’s it has many of us thinking:
Is this the hottest September in Boston ever?
The quick answer is – nope. While many articles have popped up on the internet claiming that recent months were the hottest in 170-something years or ever, this isn’t the hottest September in Boston ever (at least so far).
What was the hottest temperature ever in September in Boston?
This is where things get a little dicey. The official answer is September 2, 1953. On that day Boston shot up to 100 degrees! But according to WCVB Boston, Boston actually reached 102 degrees way back on September 7, 1881. So either way, it ain’t us. LOL
With all this extreme weather, are we going to get a ton of snow for Winter 2023/2024?
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, yup. The Farmer’s Almanac (and the Old Farmer’s Almanac – yes they’re different) predicts a cold, snowy winter for New England. They make note to mention that it’ll be much colder and snowier than last winter.
Enough about snow! What are the Best Beach Towns in Massachusetts?
Yeah, let’s pause that snow talk! It’s 91 degrees in Boston as I type this. I’m sweating with a fan literally 6 inches from my face. So we still have beach time left!! And since we’re coming off a pretty nice beach season, let’s wrap things up by declaring the best beach towns in Massachusetts. Heads-up: #2 is a bit of a surprise.
Stacker crunched the data below. They considered a variety of factors to determine the best beach towns in Massachusetts. To be considered a beach town, it needed at least one beach on the Environmental Protection Agency’s National List of Beaches. The EPA list includes beaches that are used recreationally and open to the public for free or for a fee.
