For four weeks this winter, the Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade in Boston will a beacon of sorts to help us through the gloom.

Beginning on January 22 and running through February 21, Hatched: breaking through the silence will do just that. The Hatch Shell stage will play host to laser-projected graphics with a soundtrack that you can access via your smartphone or portable speaker. Each "show" lasts 15 minutes and shows run every 20 minutes, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Get a sneak peak via this Boston Magazine article. Sure, it's not the Boston Pops on the 4th, but it's a welcome distraction.
