Megadeth Announce Return to the Road Following Dave Mustaine’s Cancer Treatment
After taking a break from touring so frontman Dave Mustaine could receive treatment for throat cancer, Megadeth has confirmed they are returning to the road in 2020.
The band shared via their social media channels, “Megadeth is back! We can’t wait to see and play for you all on the Killing Road in 2020! What songs do you want to hear?”
Mustaine originally announced his cancer diagnosis back in June 2019. He completed his cancer treatment in the Fall. In November 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, he said of his diagnosis, “They don’t know what the actual cause is. They know what kind of cancer it is. It’s a squamous cell carcinoma on the base of my tongue. It’s a tumor that you get in your mouth, and it had gone from one side of my mouth, and it had also gone to two lymph nodes. So it was pretty serious.”
Mustaine added of his doctors, “…They’re freaking out over how well I’ve healed. I’ve got people around the globe praying for me. I take good care of myself, and I don’t know how anybody can expect any other outcome than this, knowing me. I never settle for anything but complete success or, in this case, victory.”
