Deftones Plan on Releasing New Album in 2020
Deftones fans longing for new music received some good news from frontman Chino Moreno in a new interview.
Speaking with NBC San Diego before the band’s Dia de los Deftones festival, Moreno said, “This summer, we actually went into the studio and recorded an album’s worth of music. So, the music was pretty much done and the last few months have sort of just been working on the lyrics and the melodies and the singing parts. So that’s pretty much where we’re at right now.”
As for when fans can expect this new album, Moreno said, “It’ll definitely be out next year. I’m hoping that it’ll be earlier on in the year, but I feel like once I give a definitive answer or speculate exactly when, I feel like we’ll be held to it [laughs] so I kind of want to continue on. Of course, it’ll be out next year, hopefully earlier than later.”
This new album will be the ninth studio release from Deftones. Their last album, Gore, was released in April 2016 where is debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart at number two.
