That's the question, right? Was St. Patrick's Day weekend in Boston a wild, drunken mess? It depends on where you spent it.

The ROCK 92.9 crew kicked off the weekend on Thursday. We're a rock station, after all. If there's an excuse to extend a weekend, you can bet your ass we're taking full advantage of it. Such was the case with Dropkick Murphys kicking off their annual St. Patrick's Day homestand on St. Patrick's Day Eve (we know that's not a thing; we just made it up). We posted up at the Cask 'N Flagon from 4-6 p.m. and gave away tickets to the show that night. Thanks to everyone who came through to hang out.

Our favorite local photog Greg Caparell was on hand for the Dropkicks show on St. Patrick's Day proper. You can take a look at some of his shots below. My Uncle Neil and my buddy Tito were at the show, too. I haven't heard from them since Friday, so I take that as a sign that the show was an all-timer. The setlist confirms this. 25 songs total, 21 in the main set, 4 in the encore. They opened with "The State of Massachusetts," closed with "Kiss Me I'm Shitfaced" (of course), and brought out Jesse Ahearn to close the show with "Worker's Song."

St. Patrick's Day Weekend: Was It a Wild, Drunken Mess?

Saturday and Sunday saw plenty of shenanigans in and around the city, as you'd expect. It all culminated with the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in South Boston on Sunday. And that's where, as you'd expect, things ramped up a bit. Depending on who you talk to, "borging" played a part in the festivities. BORG="black out rage gallon," a mix of hard alcohol, water, electrolytes, and caffeine, carried in a gallon container. We don't recommend it.  But we do recommend taking a look at some St. Paddy's highlights.

7News Coverage

7News reporter Kim Lucey covered the parade on Sunday with some choice eyewear.

The Mayor

The St. Patrick's Day breakfast speeches were on point this year. Here's WBZ's coverage of Boston Mayor Wu.

The Governor

Not to be outdone, Governor Healey also brought the jokes, and WBZ has that, too.

The Parade Route

WCBV's Ted Wayman caught footage of a few of the thousands of spectators lining the streets for the first, full, 3.5 mile St. Patrick's Day parade in 3 years.
