After conducting a completely unscientific, absolutely unofficial poll on Facebook and Twitter, the results are in! We are celebrating the great American pastime of letting someone else do the cooking, and serving it fast, in a bag, to take on the road or bring home. Occasionally we even eat in. Happy National Fast Food Day.

I summoned your opinions on social media, asking the question, “What’s your favorite fast food chain?” And the listeners have spoken. The freckled little girl with the red braids grilled the competition. Yes, people love their McDonald’s fries, but the “chain” reaction to that question. put Wendy’s ahead of the line. So, let’s sort out your favorites, ranking 1-5.

Fun fact, the square hamburgers at Wendy’s are symbolic. According to Eat This Not That, when owner Dave Thomas founded Wendy’s, back in 1969, “he wanted to create a place that could serve quick meals without cutting any corners.” Smart. Fun fact about McDonalds, according to Reader’s Digest, the military inspired the first McDonald’s drive-through. “McDonald’s first drive-through opened in 1975 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. What inspired the then-revolutionary concept? The restaurant was located near a military base, and soldiers were not allowed to leave their cars while wearing fatigues.”

Perhaps it’s the creative offerings, outside the box, like chili and a baked potato. Healthier options are always nice. Whatever the reason, Wendy’s was, by far, the most popular fast food chain, according to Country 1025 listeners.
