'It's Alive' was originally released in April of 1979.

'It's Alive' was recorded at the Rainbow Theatre in London on New Year's Eve, 1977.

The December 31 performance was the last of a four-show run in London at the end of 1977.

The New Year's Eve show was chosen for the live album because it was considered the best set of the four: it ended with the first ten rows of fans threw their seats at the stage at the end of the show.

The show was also filmed, with part of the footage released on the 2007 DVD 'It's Alive 1974-1996.'
