It’s been a long six years since St. Patrick’s Day fell on a Friday. This year, there are opportunities for the holiday to serve as a great way to start the weekend. In addition to the Boston tradition of having a hometown bash with local legends, Dropkick Murphys, numerous other March 17 concerts are happening around the city.

From a night of hip-hop to a wine-sipping, singer-songwriter experience, many Boston area venues have national acts on the calendar.
