The survey comes from StudyFinds.org and determined its ranking on the following factors and the corresponding weights:

- Number of Flights (15%)
- Daily Commuter Traffic (20%)
- Building Construction Permits (10%)
- Public Transit Vehicles (5%)
- Fatal Crash Rate (5%)
- Housing Units Near Airports (5%)

With these factors, Massachusetts came in at No. 2 on StudyFinds.org's list of the loudest states in America. The website noted of the Commonwealth, "Massachusetts boasts 900 residents per square mile and 13,215 annual flights. The state’s compact living and bustling nightlife create a constant urban buzz that rarely dips below a dull roar."
So, which state came in at No. 1? That honor went to New Jersey.
