A New Boston Dating App Has Launched
You read that headline right. Specific to this region, Lola, which officially launched on May 28, is a Boston dating app. Here’s what that means. The app is specifically available only to those within a 75-mile radius of Boston. Back in early October of last year, Lola’s Instagram account (@Lola_dates) posted a hint that said, “Hey, Boston. Wanna date?”
Over the next few months that followed, Lola’s founders made a ton of press stops around the city announcing and detailing how their new Lola service would work.
They break down their service as follows. You can meet people in person by connecting with those who are free to go out on the same days and nights that you are available. The app literally allows you to select the night and exact date you are free and looking to go out. You can then see other members who are looking to go out on the same night that you are. The calendar date system is a primary differentiator between Lola and other apps.
“Lola is the only dating app that requires users to enter their availability over the next five days before browsing the app for potential dates,” MSN explained.
Upon completing a date, you give Lola feedback on the experience. This will help the algorithm match you with someone more specific to your interests in the future. Furthermore, after you have completed five dates, you are eligible to see the feedback people have provided on you so that you can make adjustments to your dating game if you please.
Lastly, “Only talk to people you plan on dating and avoid endless chatting,” Lola says.
What Else To Expect From This Boston Dating App
Initially, Lola created a waitlist system that allowed them to gain members first. Those interested would sign up, create an account, and create an official profile for themselves. They would then text those on the waitlist as they were approved and ready to use the app.
The initial launch of Lola allowed the original members to utilize the service for free in 2024. Then, premium features will be launched as an option to add to your subscription, although a free variation will always be part of the offering.
Prospective members who signed up and are still on a waiting list will be approved and notified on a rolling basis from here on out. The app is 18+ and hopes to expand to a larger region outside of Boston in the future.
