It's always cool when you're able to predict something happening. Whether it's the results of a game or some sort of weather, there's something neat about nailing a prediction. Now, let's examine some predictions that were made 100 years about about 2024.

Some of these predictions came close to getting it right! Others were incredibly far off. Laughably wrong. Let's look at some of these predictions!

Looking At Predictions Made 100 Years Ago About 2024

Dave and Chuck The Freak talked about this on the show today. The two of them actually got some predictions right about some recent inventions! Were others as fortunate about their predictions? Not exactly.

USA Today gathered some of these predictions. Let's go over them together. It's actually impressive how wrong a lot of these are. We had no idea what was coming, clearly.

One prediction was that motion pictures would bring in a new era of peace. You could learn about other cultures and countries and expand your brain! Sure, that happens. However, it seems like movies have only divided us further.

However, not every prediction was totally incorrect. According to USA Today, Professor Leo H. Baekeland, president of the American Chemical Society, was concerned that futuristic weaponry could obliterate humanity in the blink of an eye. He wasn't wrong! This prediction would have been before the creation of the atomic bomb. It's definitely something that could happen. Audible gulp.

Another thing they got right? Problems with our diet. Arthur Dean reportedly expressed concerns about the American diet. He predicted we won't have any teeth by 2024. Well, we still do thanks to modern dentistry. Regardless, our diets in America remain a massive concern and health problem.

According to USA Today, 100 years ago they were worried Jazz music would promote immortality among the country's youth. Then it was rock and roll, then rap, it's a never ending cycle. Our music hasn't ended us yet.

They also predicted the growth of roadways and suburbs. Swedish architect Ben Bjorkson predicted that metropolises would demolish cities, per USA Today. He also saw how highways could help bring us all together. Nice prediction, Ben!

For the real accurate predictions, we'll have to see what The Simpsons said about 2024. Check out other predictions about horses, it girls, and working from home at USA Today!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
