Noise for Toys, the Boston-area annual toy drive, is bringing the local rock this December. And it's all for the kids.

Organizer Bryan Hamill of The Ash Gray Proclamation writes: "I’m thrilled to be able to continue a tradition that began a decade ago with the annual Toy Collection/Rock Show. This year the event will benefit Christmas in the City and feature performances by Dyr Faser, Andrew Cohen of Silkworm/The Bottomless Pit, etc. and a solo performance from Ted Billings of Strange Pains."

Christmas in the City "runs non-denominational holiday events for children and families experiencing homelessness and poverty, and throughout the year is always on the lookout for ways to help those in need. Founded in 1989, Christmas in the City is a 100% volunteer organization with a strong ethos of “community caring for community." In other words, a very worthy cause.

Noise For Toys Returns to O'Brien's in Allston

So how can you get involved? Bring a new, unwrapped toy to O'Brien's in Allston on Thursday, December 21. Doors are at 8 p.m., the event is 21+, and it's $12 at the door. Bryan suggests you buy your tickets in advance, though, and you can do that here, via Eventbrite. There's a Facebook event, too, if you'd like more information on the night's festivities and the bands that are playing.

And speaking of holiday benefit shows, there's another great local lineup for the Let's Rock Cancer benefit at Crystal Ballroom in Somerville on Saturday, December 16. Get the info for that one here. I'll be keeping tabs on these holiday benefit shows as they're announced, so a good thing to do is to keep an eye on my page, as that's where all the info will end up eventually. Happy Holidays! Let's work together to do some good for those who need it this holiday season.
