These New England Hiking Trails Are Among The Best In The U.S.
If you are looking for a summer adventure that involves the mountains, New England has some of the best hiking trails in the country. It’s a great time of year to throw on your boots and backpack to explore the region without snow.
Outlets such as Travel and Leisure and The Broke Backpacker recently highlighted the trails you need to know about when planning your hike. Three specific spots in New England were recognized.
Maine – Acadia National Park
With an elevation of over 1,500 feet, Acadia National Park offers 150 miles of hiking trails. Travel and Leisure specifically calls out Cadillac North Ridge Trail, stating, “The Cadillac North Ridge Trail is a great choice for incredible views of Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay, and the Schoodic Peninsula, and is 4.4 miles roundtrip.” This trail is accessible through Bar Harbor, Maine.
New Hampshire – Mt. Washington Summit
Reserve approximately five hours to conquer Mt. Washington trails. In the always scenic White Mountains of New Hampshire, Mt. Washington is known for its intense weather conditions and hiking trails. It’s a bit shorter, but steep, narrow paths increase the difficulty level. There are plenty of areas to pull over into an observatory. Furthermore, there’s a museum to explore and a café towards the top to refill.
Vermont – The Long Trail
You can hop on one of the more family-friendly trails in the Northeast in the Jay, Vermont area. The Long Trail is 272 miles. In addition, there are 166 miles of side trails and numerous campsites. This footpath has a reputation for allowing hikers to take in all the best natural elements Vermont offers. There’s also a Vermont beer by the name of Long Trail. Its logo resembles hiking along the river and green mountains.
Regardless of what New England hiking trail you embark on, all three of these are currently considered to be in their prime season.
