Cheap Trick has postponed some upcoming shows due to guitarist Rick Nielsen still recovering from a "minor procedure."
In a statement shared to the band's Facebook page, "As we stated last week, Rick has been home recuperating from a minor procedure that kept him off the shows last weekend. While Rick is recovering nicely, he is being advised by his doctor to take a little more time. Rather than perform the shows without Rick, the guys have decided to postpone the shows this weekend and will announce the new dates shortly.
The band announced last week, "A few days ago Rick had a minor procedure that requires him to stay off the road for this week and not travel. Robin Taylor Zander will be stepping up this weekend. We look forward to Rick rejoining the guys on the west coast later next week."
We send our best wishes to Nielsen and hope to see him return to the stage soon.
Rick Nielsen celebrates his birthday today (December 22.) If there's one thing the Cheap Trick guitarist is known for, it's his collection of wild, often muti-necked, guitars.
Let be honest: Few guitarists in rock history can get away with rocking a five-necked guitar quite like Nielsen. In honor of his birthday, check out our gallery of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer with his outrageous guitars over the years.
