Stevie Nicks has released "For What It's Worth," a cover of the classic protest song by Buffalo Springfield.
Earlier this week, Nicks teased the release of the cover in a post to her social media channels.
"I am so excited to release my new song this Friday. It's called 'For What It's Worth' and it was written by Stephen Stills in 1966," wrote Nicks. "It meant something to me then, and it means something to me now."
She added, "I always wanted to interpret it through the eyes of a woman, and it seems like today, in the times that we live in, that it has a lot to say. I can't wait for you to hear it."
Stephen Stills responded to the cover sharing on Twitter, "Thank you Stevie. The rest of you, go listen! Tell me what you think."
Nicks' cover of "For What It's Worth" can be heard in the YouTube video above and is available for streaming/download here.
Stevie Nicks is the first woman (and thankfully, not the last) woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: as a member of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. As her solo debut, Bella Donna, turns 40 we looked back on her entire career to rank her 50 best songs (40 would have made sense, but it was too hard to cut it off there). We included solo and Fleetwood Mac songs, as well as her pre-Mac band Buckingham/Nicks and a few of her other collaborations.
Of course, we're ready to update this list when she releases new music! But for now, here's our favorite 50.
