july 4th dangerous for phone

It is no secret that July 4th is a dangerous day for your fingers. However, I'm sure some of you out there would rather lose a few digits than lose this. According to a new report, the Fourth of July is also the most dangerous day of the year for your phone.

In a study carried out by Asurion a company that repairs broken and waterlogged phones, they found that there are 48% more accidents on the July 4th than any other day of the year. This is followed by Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Summer, in general, is considered to be the most dangerous time of year for your smartphone.

Since there were more people out last year, they saw an 80% increase in water-related phone issues, a 10% jump in cracked screens and a 65% increase in lost phones.

Looking for the best places to celebrate 4th of July this year? You're going to have to travel outside New England.

A recent survey done by personal finance website WalletHub has Boston at #28 for the best places to celebrate 4th of July. So much for the Boston Tea Party and the Shot Heard Round the World, eh?

While American history didn't appear to come into play with WalletHub's survey, they looked at the 100 largest U.S. cities based on how well they balanced holiday costs and fun.

21 key metrics ranged from average beer and wine prices to duration of fireworks displays to Fourth of July weather forecasts.

So where then are the places to be this Independence Day weekend?

Luckily a few of them are driving distance from the Boston area, if you're so inclined.
