New Hampshire Is Slipping As Most Patriotic State

New Hampshire's 2020 title of Most Patriotic State has been vanquished. The Granite State slid quite a bit in the past 2 years, but at least it remains in the Top 10.

According to a survey done by the personal finance site WalletHub, New Hampshire came in 9th Most Patriotic, just behind neighboring Vermont.

WalletHub compared 13 critical patriotism indicators across states to determine where Americans are most patriotic.

Their data set included military enlistees and veterans, the share of adults voting in the 2020 presidential election, and the number of AmeriCorps volunteers per capita.

Coming in at #1: Alaska.

Dead last? Arkansas.

We already established Vermont at #8 and New Hampshire at #9. But what about the rest of the New England states? According to WalletHub's methodology, we're pretty far down on the list.

Rhode Island came in 48th, Massachusetts was 46th, Connecticut was 45th, and Maine rounded out the 6 most northeastern states at number 15.

There are plenty of celebrations in and around Boston, including fireworks. And of course, there's the always popular New England tradition of the Boston Pops Esplinade concert and fireworks. It's a spectaular event. But whether you choose to pull up a lawn chair and stair into the sky for the explosive and artistic magic of the fireworks in Boston, or a town near you, keep in mind why we celebrate. We celebrate our freedom and our independence. July 4th was marked as a holiday to commenorate the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress, which took place in 1776.

Now, let's find out where to find July 4th fireworks in Massachusetts, and hopefully near you.

Andover High School will host fireworks on July 2 starting at 9:20pm. The address is 80 Shawsheen Rd Andover, MA 

 Head over to Legion Field in Bridgwater on July 4 for fireworks beginning at 9:30 p.m. Legion Field is located at 200 South St.

If you are Cape bound for the holiday weekend, catch the fireworks at dusk on July 2 at Oyster Pond, Veterens Field in Chatham at 150 Depot Rd.

But you will find diplays all over the Cape. Check it out all the towns and dates here.

You can see the fireworks display in Fall River on July 4th right from the deck of the USS Massachusetts. There is a $10/person fee and more details here. 

Gates open at 7:30 and the address for the Barge in the Tauton River is 1338 Davol St.

The city of Haverhill will join the celebration on July 1st with a fireworks display at Riverside Park, 163 Lincoln Ave beginning at 9:15

On July 3, starting at 9:00 head to the barge near Red Rock at 76 Marine St for the fireworks

Newton celebrates on July 4 at Albemarle Field, Halloran Sports Complex. Start time is 9:30. 

Fireworks in Salem will take place on July 4 at the barge off Derby Wharf, Winter Island starting at 10:15. More info can be found here. 

The hometown of Indian Ranch, Webster, MA will host fireworks on July 3 at 10pm at Webster Lake Memorial Beach on Thompson Rd.
