That One Time Foo Fighters Hired The Wrong “Nick” To Produce Their Album
Dave Grohl has no shortage of fantastic Foo Fighters stories to tell, and this one was new to us…even though it’s almost 20 years old.
NME had the story earlier this week, recapping Grohl’s recent sit-down with Zane Lowe. Apparently, when the band was ready to record their 2002 album One By One, the plan was to bring in Nick Oliveri of Queens of the Stone Age to produce. So Dave pulled up his contacts and called Nick. Except it wasn’t Nick Oliveri: it was Nick Raskulinecz, Grohl’s friend and engineer from Sound City.
And the mistake paid off: Raskulinecz did such a bang-up job of producing One By One that the band brought him back for 2005’s In Your Honor.
