Sunday brought news of 14 deaths and another 744 cases of COVID-19, meaning Massachusetts has now eclipsed the 140,000 case mark.
NBC Boston's report had this statistic to add as well: "The 3-day average of hospitalized patients has also increased, from between 300 and 400 for most of September to over 500 for the past week or so." Of course, with a rise like this, the conversation turns to the return of shutdowns.
So far, Governor Charlie Baker hasn't given word about shutdowns or returning to earlier reopening phases, pointing out the fact that Massachusetts has infrastructure in place now to deal with pockets of outbreaks that weren't in place six months ago.
Still, it's more important than ever that we keep wearing our masks, washing our hands, and keeping safe distance. So you keep doing that and we'll keep you up-to-date with further developments.
