Journey, R.E.M., Steve Miller Nominated for Songwriters HOF
Journey, R.E.M. and Steve Miller are featured among a stacked group of nominees for the 2020 induction class of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The diverse group of nominees is broken up into two categories: Performing Songwriters, who perform their own works, and Songwriters, who write songs for other artists and don’t perform their own works.
Journey will be represented by Jonathan Cain, Steve Perry and Neal Schon, while R.E.M. will be represented by Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe. Joining them in the Performing Songwriters group are Annie Lennox and David Stewart, Patti Smith, Mariah Carey, Mike Love, Outkast, The Isley Brothers, David Gates, Vince Gill and Gloria Estefan.
The Songwriters category includes Lynn Ahrens / Stephen Flaherty, Tommy Boyce / Bobby Hart, L. Russell Brown / Irwin Levine, Sonny Curtis, Kye Fleming / Dennis Morgan, Jerry Fuller, Tony Macaulay, Bob McDill, Chad Hugo / Pharrell Williams (The Neptunes), Roger Nichols, Rick Nowels and William “Mickey” Stevenson.
Voting members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame have until December 16, 2019 to turn in their ballots for the 2020 class. The induction ceremony will be taking place June 11, 2020, in New York City.
