Remembering Morphine’s Mark Sandman 20 Years On
July 3, 1999. Mark Sandman, mainstay of the Boston music scene and frontman and founder of beloved Boston band Morphine collapsed on stage in Italy, dying instantly.
The news was shocking and sent ripples through the music community back home in Boston. I was on the air when it all went down and, well, I’ll let the video tell the story.
