Adam 12’s 4th of July 4-play
Hey, baby! It’s the 4th of July! So here are four songs called “4th of July.”
Soundgarden‘s “4th Of July” is taken from their 1994 album Superunknown and has one of the crunchiest guitar riffs in rock history. Light a roman candle and hold it in your hand.
Legendary L.A. punk band X have a song called “4th of July,” too. It’s a working-class ode to the holiday that still stands up 30 years on.
If you’re an old-school Boston music head, you likely remember Galaxie 500. They have a song called “Forth of July,” too.
Lastly, here’s the late, great Elliott Smith with “Independence Day.” Yeah, I know. The song title isn’t the same. But the idea is. Happy 4th.
