Last week, I asked which nominees you most wanted to see inducted into the Rock Hall Class of ’23. This week? It’s Rock Hall snubs.
We’ve talked Rock Hall snubs before. In fact, I think it’s more fun to talk about the snubs than it is the actual inductees. Shortly after the nominees for the Rock Hall Class of ’23 were announced, we shared this list of 45 artists that have never been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, despite having over 5 years of eligibility. A reminder: an act is eligible for nomination 25 years after the release of their first album.
Allow me to follow up that reminder with this disclaimer: the Rock Hall recently updated their Mission Statement, too. It now reads:
“Born from the collision of rhythm & blues, country, and gospel, rock & roll is a spirit that is inclusive and ever-changing. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates the sound of youth culture and honors the artists whose music connects us all. We share stories of the people, events, and songs that shape our world through digital content, innovative exhibits, live music, engaging programs, and our annual Induction Ceremony.”
Rock Hall Snubs: 12-Inch Poll
The updated Mission Statement is important, as is the reminder of eligibility. As you’re scrolling through the options I’ve chosen for this week’s Poll, you’ll find a few acts that aren’t necessarily “rock,” but belong in the discussion in light of the Rock Hall’s new “spirit.”
So get scrolling. I went with an even twelve, as I am Adam 12, and it is my 12-Inch Poll. If I’ve left off the one act you think has been done the dirtiest, hit the ROCK 92.9 Facebook or Twitter and add them to the conversation. Otherwise, cast your vote for the never-nominated act that you feel has been snubbed the hardest.
