If you went to the Red Hot Chili Peppers show, you know it was awesome.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers at Fenway show is finally here. Before you hit Lansdowne St. on Saturday night, scroll through our handy guide.

The concert caps off what’s been a pretty epic slate of rock shows at Fenway Park this summer. Of course, it was just last night that Aerosmith played their twice-delayed 50th Anniversary show. We have the recap here, complete with coverage of frontman Steven Tyler’s night-before-the-show trip to the old “Aerosmith Apartment” on Comm. Ave. in Allston. And let’s not forget the Stadium Tour earlier this summer. We didn’t have to wait as long for that one–only a year–but it was killer having Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett posted up in front of the Green Monster for an epic night of rock.

So here we are, rounding out the summer rock shows at Fenway with Red Hot Chili Peppers. John Frusciante is back in the fold. The band is technically touring behind their latest album, Unlimited Love, released this past April Fools Day. But they’ve also announced a second new album for 2022. That one will be called Return of the Dream Canteen and it’s due out on October 14. So expect to hear plenty of new RHCP tunes along side all the classics you know and love.

Red Hot Chili Peppers at Fenway Park: Everything You Need To Know

Below, we’ll walk you through all the info you’ll need for Fenway Park on Saturday night. What time is the show? We’ll tell you. Who’s opening? We’ll tell you. What should I do before the show? We’ll tell you. What can (and can’t) I bring to the show? We’ll tell you. What should I do after the show? We’ll tell you. And we’ll give you something fun to keep you busy while you wait.

  • What Time Is The Show?

Here’s the schedule: gates open at 4:30 p.m., Thundercat at 6:00 p.m., St. Vincent at 7 p.m., Red Hot Chili Peppers at 8:15 p.m. As our friends at Live Nation always say–and as we always say–times are subject to change.

  • Who's Opening?

Thundercat has the opening slot. This man can play bass. He’s a goddamn virtuoso. I caught him at Boston Calling Music Festival a few years back and he blew my mind. He has a great sense of humor, too.

  • Who Else Is Opening?

St. Vincent is providing direct support. St. Vincent is Annie Clark and, speaking of virtuosos, Annie shreds on guitar. She’s another artist I’ve caught at Boston Calling over the years–twice, actually–and she’s one of the most exciting performers working today. Oh, and she kills covering Nirvana, too.
