NICE, a fest made it’s Boston-area debut in 2021. Now the festival returns to two Somerville venues in July of 2023.
I was going to write up a brief history of the local music fest here, but the NICE, a fest website went ahead and took care of that for me: “NICE, a fest is an extremely NICE local music and art festival in Somerville, MA, presented by Get To the Gig Boston.” Pretty simple, right? And there are only three rules to follow. One: Be NICE. Two: If you see something, say something. Three: HAVE A NICE TIME. I don’t know about you, but that all speaks to me.
The third iteration of NICE, a fest will take place July 20-23, 2023. Performances will take place in Somerville’s Davis Square as well as Crystal Ballroom and The Rockwell. In addition to literally dozens and dozens of live, local acts, there will also be “a very NICE vendor market and a lot of NICE surprises along the way!”
NICE!
NICE, a fest Returns to Somerville This Summer
First impressions on the lineup: Karate is headlining. So I’m over the moon. Karate is an indie rock band that formed in Boston in 1993. They’re and all-time favorite band of mine, Boston or otherwise, and were one of my live white whales for years. That changed in 2022 when they reunited and kicked off their reunion tour with two nights in Cambridge. I wrote about the experience here.
I’ll take you through the upper lines of the lineup below, but first some business. Tickets are available here. Early bird three- and four-day passes are available as I type this, as well as single-day Thursday tickets. All of that is subject to change, so be NICE to yourself and grab you NICE passes sooner as opposed to later. NICE!
