We have found South Boston's BEST space saver ever! If you're not from our wonderful state of Massachusetts, you may not know what a space saver is. No, it's not something you buy at Target, to organize your closet.

What Is A Boston Space Saver?

For those living in Boston, parking on the street in the winter has become an art form.  A space saver is an item that you can use to save your street parking spot during a winter storm. WHY do we need this? Because during a storm, cars must be moved for snow plowing. But look carefully because each town has their own set of parking and plowing rules. For example, in Cambridge, residents must move their cars off of streets signed “No Parking During Snow Emergency.” Masslive.com reports that Boston also encourages drivers to park at least 20 feet away from intersections to help keep streets open for snowplows and emergency vehicles. Drivers should also park no more than a foot away from the curb.

According to Masslive.com:

If a state of emergency is declared, then you can use almost anything as a space saver from, a trash can to a traffic cone, according to Boston’s website. If your luck pans out and a state of emergency is declared, residents can leave their space savers out for 48 hours after the emergency is lifted.

Our crack team of researchers has scoured social media and has compiled a list of Boston's most innovated space savers. I would guess that using something unsanitary would effective is preserving your spot. I bet the chair guy lost a chair the first time, forgetting it has wheels. "Where's my chair?"
