This past Saturday WRIF hosted it’s second RIFFfest. What a great, hot night of rock in the Motor City! What I have today on the pod is a recap of the interviews I did backstage at the show. Today, Jade and Al Beck join me to discuss this past weekends festivities and about the bands that played…..
First up, it’s Brent from Shinedown. They headlined the show and really gave the huge crowd a spectacle, including doing some four songs off the stage scattered about the venue. Brent and I talked about many topics including his sobriety and falling off the wagon, new music, great advise he’s received and TONS more.
The Pop Evil guys are up next at around the 29 minute mark. They are the RIFFfest veterans having played both shows. They talk about cool celebrity sightings backstage at their shows, touring with Poison and Cheap Trick, an upcoming show with a country music legend, the use of one of their songs by the NHL & more. Always great to see the guys….and girl.
Around the 43:30 mark, its 3/4 of Seether. It’s around 20 years of Seether…sorta, as we talk about that, the last rock star that texted them, streaming series’ they’ve recently watched, new music and the process of Shaun being the primary lyricist and other stuff.
Badflower comes in around the 58:10 mark. I really enjoyed this conversation, never having interviewed them before. They told me about the world-wind past year, Josh being the face of the band and his anxiety when he takes the stage every night, their unique sound and how they developed it, and lots more.
Finally, Diamante joined me around the 1:11:00 mark. I didn’t know it at the time, but this was the first festival she has ever played. We talked about her debut album and the influences past and present, the live experience, women in rock, her upbringing moving to L.A. as a teen and lots more.
Thanks so much for listening! It was a pleasure to talk to all of these bands. If you like this podcast, feel free to give it a 5 star rating, write a review and share it with your friends….
