MSPCA-Angell Hosts Fee-Waived Dog Adoption Event April 16-19

MSPCA-Angell and Northeast Animal Shelter of Salem are hosting a fee-waived dog adoption event, Find Your Best Bud, from April 16-19. The shelters are looking to place 100 or more rescue dogs this weekend.

All dogs — regardless of size and age — are eligible for the fee-waived adoption.

"Our last fee-waived adoption event was held the weekend before February school vacation week in Massachusetts," said Jamie Garabedian, project manager in the MSPCA-Angell's Animal Protection Division, in a statement shared with the Patch of Salem. "We suspect the success of the event in finding homes for more than 200 animals was related to its timing and hope to build on this momentum heading into April school vacation. By including dogs of all ages, we're optimistic we can connect with a wide range of adopters and kick off what we expect will be another high-volume season on the right foot." 

Shelter officials note that spring and summer typically see higher intake activity due to increased surrenders and stray intakes, and more puppy transports.

The fee-free adoption event is taking place at the MSPCA-Angell centers in Boston, Salem, Cape Cod, and Methuen, as well as at the Berkshire Humane Society and the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center.
