According to 12 News, 24-year-old Trinity Peterson-Mayes shared a meal with a friend and was left nearly paralyzed. What was the dish? Homemade fermented swordfish. Well, that doesn't sound very appetizing. She tells 12 News, "I noticed that when I was chugging water, I wouldn't be able to chug it. It was going down the wrong pipe, and then slowly, over the course 24 hours, I went from noting being able to chug water to not being able to drink any water at all."
She was taken to the hospital where she learned she contracted Botulism, per 12 News. She was given a life-saving antitoxin and is now on the road to recovery. Read more from 12 News here.
