It looks like not everyone listened to the warnings as some teens are shown in videos going viral online playing in the waves and frolicking on the shore. Waves are seem hitting the rocks with force and sending water cascading over the natural pool sweeping the kids up the beach, per Surfer. See video of the waves shared on Instagram here.
'Stay Out Of The Water': Massive 20ft Waves Hit Puerto Rico
It looks like they're having a lot of fun but this could have been incredibly dangerous. Those are some huge waves and they probably come with some strong currents that easily could have swept them away.
According to Surfer, a Telemundo newscaster said, "A citizen captured footage of the dangerous surf at Puerto Nuevo beach in Vega Baja. Citizens are urged to stay out of the water as the currents will continue this Tuesday. Obviously there's impact of erosion on the coast...the risk of coastal floods occurs. [It's] important to stay. We had seen fatalities...a lot of caution...stay out of the water."
