Newport Hotel Opens Hot Chocolate Bar With Cliff Walk Views Through December

Newport, Rhode Island, makes a perfect place to enjoy the holiday season with a cup of hot chocolate. 

The Hot Chocolate Bar at The Chanler at Cliff Walk offers a relaxing winter escape during the holidays. Guests can savor views and fire pits on the hotel grounds or take their cocoa to go for a Cliff Walk stroll.

From now through Sunday, Dec. 14, The Chanler at Cliff Walk opens its Hot Chocolate Bar on Saturdays and Sundays. It will then open daily (except on Christmas Day) from Saturday, Dec. 20, to Tuesday, Dec. 30. Hours are noon to 4 p.m., except on Christmas Eve, when hours are noon to 3 p.m. You can view the calendar on the website.

Walk-up service will be available from an outdoor window. Members of the public do not need to be hotel guests to participate.

Menu choices include milk or dark chocolate with whipped cream and a chocolate straw. Alcoholic libations include those made with milk chocolate, Irish cream, and vanilla vodka. A dark chocolate version features Tuaca and Grand Marnier.

The hot chocolate is crafted by The Chanler's culinary team using Valrhona chocolate from Tain L'Hermitage and Wright's Dairy Farm milk from northern Rhode Island.

Once you have your hot chocolate in hand, you can settle in by the fire pits or sit out on the lawn and enjoy the views as you sip your drink. If you opt for one of the hot chocolates with alcohol, you must stay on the hotel property. Otherwise, you can take your cup and go for a stroll on the Cliff Walk.
